Me 5

Me – A Super-Mini Biography Part 5

Education

I don’t put much faith in education. Maybe that’s why it hasn’t help me much over the years. That’s why it’s near the end of this. In fact I’ve only had one job where my education was important. That was my first programming job at Transamerica where they required a college degree to enter their program.

Here is a list of the colleges I have attended. Let it be noted that most of the time I was in college I was taking classes I liked and not those that were required. Unfortunately for me the interesting classes I took only helped me get a BA. I did accumulate approximately 244 units (mostly semester hours) during those years. Had they been in the “right” subjects it could have led to a PHD degree.

Wilson Jr. College (Chicago)
Pasadena City College (Pasadena, CA)
University of Wisconsin
Austin Peay State University (Clarksville, TN)
Cal State University LA (Los Angeles)
UCLA (Westwood, CA)
Riverside Community College (Riverside, CA)

In addition to those formal college credit courses here are some taken on jobs and in night school.

German
Spanish
Physics – Astronomy

AMAPS system/classes (computer manufacturing system)
COPICS IBM
CICS IBM
IMS IBM
DB2 IBM
Access Microsoft

Financial Trading systems (many)
Real Estate methods (many)
Too many others to mention

Computer languages

Fortran
Cobol
PL/I
Basic, Visual Basic
C
C++

That’s it for now. There may or may not be more added here, depending on my time or situation, both of which are not predictable at this time.
