Whoa! An Earthquake Just Now Rumbling

Just as I submitted a post on Mr. Q there was a rather powerful earthquake felt here in Lake Elsinore. I looked at the time on the computer and it was 11:42 am on the clock.

It shook the house a lot, but the electricity did not go off and nothing seemed to fall of the shelves. I expect more after shocks to occur. Fortunately the shaking – and it felt powerful – was only a few seconds.

My wife just came in here and told me it was a 5.6 on the Richter scale. Pretty strong. Don’t know where the epicenter was yet. With that strong of a quake there will almost surely be after shocks.

For anyone not used to earthquakes it is a strange feeling to feel the building under you shaking. In my case it was my house. Yo never know how long it might last and if the shaking will do any damage. The electricity could go off. The gas line could sever, the water line could break, etc. and it is awful to thing of worse damage.

It looks like the earthquake just now was a relatively powerful earthquake. It didn’t do much damage from what I hear on the tv, which has had it on the news since yesterday. The last figure I heard was 5.4 on the Richter scale and 80-100 aftershocks.
